A terminal emulator and SSH client for iOS and Android. Connect to your servers, browse files over SFTP, and keep your credentials in an encrypted vault on your device.

Reporting a connection problem

SSH failures are almost always specific to one server. To let us reproduce the issue, tell us the server operating system, the authentication method you used (password, key, or agent), and the exact error text Flutabby showed.

Common questions

Where are my connections and passwords stored?: On your device only, inside an encrypted vault. Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you deliberately configure sync to a server you run yourself.
What does the optional sync do?: It copies your settings to a Tabby Web server that you host. You supply the address. We do not operate a sync service, and we never see the data.
What do the support purchases unlock?: Extra terminal themes, and nothing else. Every feature of Flutabby is free and stays free. Coffee unlocks 2 premium themes, Red Bull unlocks 4, and Small Pizza unlocks all 6.
I bought a support tier and reinstalled the app. How do I get my themes back?: Open Settings, go to Support Flutabby, and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so this works on any device signed in to the same account.
I forgot my vault password. Can you recover it?: No. The vault is encrypted with a key derived from your password and never leaves your device, so there is nothing for us to unlock. This is deliberate.
How do I delete my data?: Deleting the app removes the vault and all stored connections from your device. If you configured sync, clear the data on your own server as well.

Privacy policy

What we collect

Nothing. Flutabby contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind. We do not operate a server that the app reports to, and we do not build a profile of you.

What stays on your device

The app stores the following locally, and only locally:

Connection profiles: host names, ports, usernames, and per-connection settings
Credentials: passwords, private keys, and passphrases, held in an encrypted vault
Preferences: themes, terminal settings, and layout
Login scripts and port forwarding rules that you create

The vault is encrypted with AES-256. The encryption key is derived from your vault password and, where you enable it, protected by Face ID or Touch ID through the operating system keychain. The key never leaves your device and we have no copy of it.

Servers you connect to

When you open an SSH, Telnet, or SFTP session, the app talks directly to the server you named. That traffic goes from your device to that server and passes through no infrastructure of ours. What the operator of that server logs is governed by their policy, not this one.

Optional sync

Flutabby can synchronise settings with a Tabby Web server. That server is one you choose and normally one you run. The app sends your configuration to the address you enter and to no other address. We do not host a sync service and have no access to whatever you sync.

Purchases

Support purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and shares only the confirmation that a purchase or restore succeeded. We never see your name, payment card, or billing address. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.

Children

Flutabby is a tool for system administration and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

Third parties

The app bundles open source libraries for terminal emulation, SSH, and storage. None of them transmit data to us or to their authors. There are no third party SDKs that collect information.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or erase on request. All of your data is in your hands: deleting the app deletes it. If you believe this is wrong in your case, contact us and we will look into it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published here with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
